lunch in the sight of manong manlilimos

After a day's work I was ready to go home, dress in the most comfy cotton t-shirt, eat my already prepared lunch, and watch some good dvds after. I was feeling pretty good at myself as my student is very attentive and is interested to learn.. thus, smiling at myself, I walked along the busy street of Claveria humming at the sound of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance from my Ipod while holding a cellphone on the other trying to use up everything smart unlimited text can provide. As I drew near the corner, I caught a glimpse of an old man dressed in a rugged t-shirt, with an equally rugged shorts and almost-useless slippers. He was sitting at the corner of an abandoned hotel (which I think is very ironic) having lunch ( i presume coz its already past 12 nn). The sight was beyond anything I can describe or would want to describe.... I never dared take a second glance of him hence I might broke down and say sorry for being such a brat at home (not that he cares)... His lunch consists of a bottled water (one that you knew at first glance that it was refilled) and a junkfood (not the nova/piatos/pringles type but one that you usually see hanging on sari-sari stores). Uhuh... that 1-peso worth of junkfood is the old man's lunch that day. The kind that we used to eat when we we're younger not because it tastes good but because of the freebies inside.. *sigh* It's a heartbreaking sight and one day when I see that man again.. I'll stop by and give him my 5 peso worth of biscuit.. It might not be much but atleast he'll get enough calories to get by even for just that day...
