The Power of a Human Mind (repost from my thoughts.com)

Watching Discovery Channel helps me see trivial but essential stuffs beyond the fog of familiarity. Sometimes even the most petty of things that people so often overlook or just wouldn’t care noticing at all is the key element for a good life. Allow me to quantify.

Let’s face it, we have to make a decision almost every second. The way we walk, where to go, what to say, how we talk, to pick up the coin along the street or not. And even big decisions must be done in a snap, we have to decide whether or not to eat an extra-large burger, to submit in a hypnotic state, join an organization or a religious group and would you believe that sometimes people can decide whether or not to feel pain and bleed? And maybe witches have extra power because they believe they can learn and eventually obtain it. Hence, it is like saying that everything we are and everything we feel and do is because of the works of our brain.

The power of our brain is more than what any Einsteiner can comprehend. Even Socrates’ reason will be in vain explaining human behavior in relation on how our brain works. Ask every neurologist around for a simpler and more comprehensible explanation on the works of every neuron, chemical, and cells in our brain during decision-making and you will get vague, puzzle-like answers. Nobody can explain it.

Decisions are done with the effort of our brain, the chemicals secreted by our body, our attitude towards the subject, and our personality. It is all interrelated, meaning there is no concrete explanation to every human behavior because every behavior manifested by men is subjected to him and not to any other things around him. People who have done a crime knows what they are doing, even the most drunk is still conscious of the things around him. We cannot force anyone to do something against their own will, thus if the alibi of the crime is hypnosis, or drugs, or alcohol, or mental illness, I believe he/she should still be punished for such deviant acts.

The human brains works in ways we cannot fully understand. I have read about a cult in Iran where adult and children alike literally puncture themselves with ice picks, knives, and even swords and they claim that it creates no pain. Scientists have examined one member and indeed, the prostaglandin (a pain chemical) secretion is decreased during piercing when he meditates. Another is the art of knocking someone out without even touching the person. Thus called No Touch Knockout. I do not believe in this either but I cannot judge those people who have been knock out by this method. Why do some people feel so little pain? Why are some people knocked out without even touching? While some don’t? That’s because they believe in the concept. What we believe is sometimes more powerful than what we feel. Maybe that is why some hospitals in America are using the revolutionary mind healing to alleviate the suffering of the sick.

In conclusion, if you are in the brink of tears because of pain, remember that it is all in our mind. Even the most hurtful of circumstance can be avoided when we keep in mind this simple fact, Brain Has the Power to Drastically Change Your Emotion. Thus the saying mind over emotion. So next time you feel like eating that high-caloric meal, or crying over a stupid person, or feeling depressed of your body image, just remember That Its All In Your Mind. 
